All the new methods of staying connected to the workplace allow for more and more people to work from alternate locations. The need to actually be in the office is becoming less and less. Or is it? You may be able to be super productive at home or in the coffee shop, but your boss may not think so. Your boss may not see what it is that you bring to the team.
I recently read a blog post about a coffee shop that had so many customers in line every morning that other people (potential customers) would turn and go somewhere else when they approached the store. The question was being asked, “How many customers did you lose today?” Or to put it in business-ese, “How much revenue and potential growth did you let slip away today?”
Numerous things went through my mind. How do I resolve this? A phone call? With a conversation that would sound like, “What the hell are you doing?” An email that would say…
