Disappointing Day for Apple – What, no iPhone 5?
Today was disappointing day for Apple fans. The anticipation of the iPhone 5 release was burning up the media. Then hearts, heads, and stock prices dropped after the “new” CEO Tim Cook revealed the iPhone 4s.
You could hear the world scream “What? What was all the hype about?” Apple teased the world with the phrase “let’s talk iPhone” just to reveal slashed prices on previous models and an iPhone that let’s you talk to it. Yes, it has a better camera, it is faster, and it syncs without a computer, but it does not live up to the hype that has been bouncing around the world for the past few weeks.
Twitter was all abuzz during mid-day with #letstalkiphone trending. Everyone was giving the world constant updates on every syllable uttered at the Apple meeting of the discontent. Apple’s website went down and so did numerous favorite Apple blogs.
Although the iPhone release was rather anti-climatic and disappointing there were a few other things mentioned, such as iCloud, Siri, and nano watches for runners. If you are already using Google Docs then you are already aware of the functionality of iWorks and iCloud. For one, you are already using cloud computing by storing your documents with Google. With iCloud and iWorks the benefit is that you can write, red, and edit any doc on any of your Apple devices at anytime. You can also already do this if you can access Google from any of your devices and you won’t have to buy iWorks.
As far as the marketing aspect goes, I would say Apple really rocked the world with the possibility of launching a new iPhone. They had every ear in the world anticipating waiting to see what innovative product was about to revolutionize the world. Instead, they got the same old same old. So the lead up was good, but they lost it on the follow through.
